The Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries has granted 40,496 euros for the creation in Albudeite of the main honey packing and bee wax processing in the Region of Murcia, which will serve all beekeepers in southeast Spain.
This item is one of those included in the 903,341 euros of the Participatory Local Development Strategy 'Heritage Landscape: For Sustainable and Intelligent Development' for 29 private projects of the Local Action Group (LAG) Integral, which were presented 57 initiatives
This grant is part of the call for aid to private projects of the Rural Development Program (PDR) of the Region of Murcia 2014-2020, collected in the LEADER Program, which will mobilize 2,127,700 euros.
The counselor Miguel Ángel del Amor visited this packing machine, which has a production capacity of 100,000 kilos per year, and stressed that this project "introduces a wax decontamination technique, which makes it the fourth plant in the world that introduces a system of this type ".
From this plant, the councilor said, "the value of the honey produced in the region is supported, supporting the indigenous product, the work of our land."
In this regard, he recalled that in Spain 85 percent of the honey consumed comes from third countries, mainly from China, Mexico and Ukraine.
For this reason, Del Amor affirmed, "it is necessary to modify the Spanish legislation since it is necessary to have a clear label indicating the country of origin so that the final consumer knows its origin."
The RDP grants are 63 percent financed by the European Fund for Rural Development (FEADER) and by the Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, which co-finances the remaining 27 percent.
In addition, Leader aids in the Region are also managed by the Northeast Local Action groups, Vega del Segura and Campoder.

During the visit to Albudeite, the counselor met with the mayor Jesús García, to whom he announced that the Ministry is going to renovate a damaged section of the collector located in the street of Alfonso Ferez, which will be ready by the end of this year.
"A pipe of 109 meters in length and 315 millimeters in diameter will be repaired, and the pavement of the street will be perfected," pointed out the Minister of Water, who stressed that "with this action the outflow of wastewater and rainwater will be improved. the streets of the center of the town, avoiding infiltrations to the subsoil ".
The approximate budget of the action is around 40,000 euros and will benefit more than 20 homes in the urban center.
